The Coordinator for ARDSI (Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India) Coimbatore Chapter will manage the society's day-to-day administrative operations. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, along with a passion for supporting dementia care and awareness. The coordinator will coordinate events, manage communications, maintain records, and ensure the smooth functioning of the society’s activities.

The Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India – Coimbatore Chapter (ARDSI-CC) hosted a forward-looking session titled “Enhancing Well-being Through VR Engagement” at the Vazhikatti Mental Health Centre and Research Institute, Coimbatore. The program brought together MSW and Psychology students, faculty members, and mental health professionals to explore how immersive technology can transform dementia care. The session opened with a presentation by Ms. Pramila, who provided a foundational understanding of dementia and cognitive decline. Ms. Janani Vaiyapuriappan, Honorary Administrator, ARDSI-CC, shared insights on neurocognitive domains and introduced the “Train the MHPs” initiative, emphasizing the importance of building dementia-specific professional skills. Mr. Eswar R. M. then led an engaging session on the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in dementia care, covering global and Indian use cases, technical and psychological aspects, and conducting a live VR demonstration for participants. In her concluding remarks, Ms. Pramila highlighted the crucial role of social workers in providing psychosocial support and fostering empathetic dementia care practices. The session concluded with a lively Q&A, a vote of thanks by Ms. Rakavi B. T., and a group photo marking the successful completion of the event. The Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India – Coimbatore Chapter (ARDSI-CC) organized an engaging training session on “Cognitive Retraining Techniques: Tools for Clinical Practice” for psychology students and aspiring mental health professionals. The session was led by Ms. Nabila Nasrin, RCI Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who delivered an inspiring lecture filled with warmth, wit, and practical wisdom. She highlighted the importance of biopsychology and neuropsychology, the distinct roles of mental health professionals, and how simple, intentional tasks can serve as powerful tools in cognitive retraining. Ms. Janani Vaiyapuriappan, Honorary Administrator, ARDSI-CC, opened the session with an interactive yarn web activity demonstrating the six neurocognitive domains, followed by a brief introduction to dementia and ARDSI’s mission. Dr. Selvaraj Krishnamurthi, Secretary, ARDSI Coimbatore Chapter, concluded the session by emphasizing the significance of early exposure to dementia-related learning for future clinicians. ARDSI extends sincere thanks to Vazhikatti Mental Health Centre and Research Institute for their continued support, and to Ms. Sridhanalakshmi S and Ms. Subhasree Muruganandan for their behind-the-scenes and digital coordination efforts. ARDSI-Coimbatore Chapter hosted a transformative training session on Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) at Vazhikatti Mental Health Centre, equipping young mental health professionals with practical, non-pharmacological tools to support persons with dementia and their caregivers. The session began with an insightful presentation about dementia by Ms. Harshini C (Christ University), and Ms. Janani addressed the emotional weight of caregiver burden and shared ARDSI-CC’s mission to build a dementia-aware mental health community. A live JPMR demonstration by Mr. Kanagaraj R brought the technique to life, followed by closing remarks from Dr. Selvaraj Krishnamurthi and a heartfelt vote of thanks. We’re grateful to participants from institutions including MSSW, Rathinam College, Bharathiar University, PSGR Krishnammal, Christ University, Hindustan, and Sri Krishna College, as well as Ms. Sridhanalakshmi, the Vazhikatti team, and dedicated housekeeping staff, for making this a powerful day of calm, compassion, and clinical insight.
