About Us

Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India-Coimbatore Chapter (ARDSI-CC) is an NGO dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by Alzheimer's Disease and their families. Our Coimbatore Chapter is part of the National Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), which is committed to addressing the challenges posed by Dementia in our community.

ARDSI envisions a society that is understanding and supportive of individuals with dementia. Together, we can create an environment that promotes inclusivity and compassion.

Our Objectives

To give support, succor, help, and information to families of persons affected by dementia.
To initiate and encourage the formation of chapters of the society, support groups, and dementia care centers throughout India.
To secure from governmental and non-governmental sources better facilities for care of those affected by dementia.
To undertake and support research into the causes, prevalence, and other aspects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
To bring to the attention of governmental agencies the needs of people with dementia, including recognition of dementia as a handicap of the elderly.
To encourage training of health personnel in geriatric care and dementia.
To educate the public about dementia through all available media.
To develop help lines for caregivers and create networks of support services.
To arrange and conduct training programs for caregivers, organize seminars, and medical camps.
To provide incentive and support for voluntary associations and individuals engaged in dementia research and care.
To collaborate with national, state, and local governmental agencies and international organizations for dementia-related objectives.
To provide legal guidance and advocacy for individuals with dementia.
To provide elderly care, including medical help, food, shelter, and care homes.
To establish geriatric centers for medical and nursing care.
To establish schemes for keeping the elderly engaged mentally and physically.
To establish hospitals for the aged and provide proper medical care.

The Coordinator for ARDSI (Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India) Coimbatore Chapter will manage the society's day-to-day administrative operations. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, along with a passion for supporting dementia care and awareness. The coordinator will coordinate events, manage communications, maintain records, and ensure the smooth functioning of the society’s activities.

Dr. K Selvaraj has briefed the audience, the In-Patients, and their caregivers about dementia and 10 warning signs of dementia.Ms Prabha highlighted the need for support from family members in dementia care. Dr Padma addressed the need for early diagnosis and the role of medications in managing the illness.
